Pattern Details
The Shades of Grey Hat is a worsted weight hat that includes an easy charted fair isle design. Instructions are clearly written, and there is minimal shaping required. It’s a great introduction to fair isle or stranded knitting
Construction Details
The hat is knit seamlessly in the round, beginning with the bottom edge, and working up toward the crown. The body of the hat is worked on circular needles (16” length), changing to double pointed needles as needed.

125-200 yds worsted weight yarn (100-150 yds MC and 25-50 yds CC)
Needles
size 6 circular needles, 16” length (for bottom/ribbing)
size 8 circular needles, 16” length (for main body)
size 8 double pointed needles (for top shaping)
Misc
stitch markers, row counter, tapestry needle
Gauge
18 stitches = 4” in stockinette stitch, using the larger needles.
Change needles size as necessary, for accurate gauge!

Casting on, knitting, purling, decreasing (k2tog).
